Who We Are:
Best’s Wines is a historic, family-owned winery that brings long-standing traditions to every bottle produced. Beginning in 1866, Best’s Great Western features some of Australia’s most noteworthy historic vineyards, and houses some of the oldest and rarest vines in the world.
Continuously run by family for over 150 years, Best’s Wines has survived and thrived under the thoughtful stewardship of two families of artisans since its founding. Founder, Henry Best, is to thank for the Concongella Vineyard, with his vision for extraordinary wine. The wines from this region, and specifically this vineyard, are structured and balanced, with their cultivation down to an art.
What We Do:
Cultivated from homegrown, local, and estate-grown fruit, Best’s Wines boasts distinctive reds and whites alike, having something for every visitor to try. Best’s is known for their unique varieties, such as Dolcetto and Pinot Meunier, and also their signature grape Shiraz, which has been grown at the estate since 1868. You may also wish to indulge in Best’s Wines’ signature Thomson Family Shiraz or Bin 0 Shiraz, both of which are represented in the top 2 tiers of the Langton’s Classification.
Visitors can take a tour of the underground cellars which were hand-dug in the 1860s, and the original Nursery Block plantings, both of which are a significant slice of Australian wine history. Best’s Wines also offer private tastings (to be booked prior). Purchase a cheese platter and enjoy a glass of wine while taking in all the beauty that Best’s Wines can offer.
