Best’s Wines, Great Western
Hamish Thomson, a 5th generation family member who has worked alongside the rest of the Thomson Family at Best’s Winery since early childhood, lets us in on the Grampian’s best kept secret!
Best’s Wines is an historic family owned producer of iconic Victorian wines. Dating back to 1866, we have consistently produced wines of balance and structure and are known for our Shiraz, Riesling and Pinot Meunier.
Located at Great Western, a small and picturesque town at the foot of the Grampians, Best’s boasts a historic collection of Australia’s oldest and most significant vineyards.
For more than 150 years, we’ve been proudly producing world-class wines in Victoria’s Great Western region.
Best’s has thrived under the stewardship of just two families since 1866. The founding Best family established the original Concongella Vineyard and today, their vision lives on through our family, the Thomson’s, having purchased the property after Henry Best’s death in 1920.
As one of Australia’s oldest and continuously family-owned and operated wineries, Best’s crafts extraordinary and iconic wines of elegance and longevity. Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine rated our flagship wine, the Thomson Family Shiraz, as ‘Exceptional’ and our Bin No. O Shiraz as ‘Outstanding’.
Hamish manages a very busy cellar door, along with his role in sales, marketing and management of their growing online book club.
